Production process

From harvesting the raw materials to laboratory testing — step by step.

We believe transparency starts at the source. That is why we bring you a detailed overview of how our ingredients travel from nature into every MAWELLA® capsule.

KSM-66® Ashwagandha

Production process of
KSM-66® Ashwagandha

Withania somnifera · India · Water extraction · Green Chemistry

01
Cultivation
Ashwagandha is grown on farms in India under strictly controlled conditions with an emphasis on soil quality and growing conditions.
02
Root harvesting
Once mature, only the roots of the plant are harvested. KSM-66® uses no leaves or other parts — only the root.
03
Cleaning and sorting
The roots are thoroughly cleaned of soil and impurities, then sorted by quality and maturity.
04
Gentle drying
The roots are gently dried at a controlled temperature to preserve the natural bioactive compounds.
05
Water extraction
A so-called "Green Chemistry" purification process — water extraction with no alcohol or synthetic chemical solvents.
06
Standardisation
The extract is standardised to a minimum of 5% withanolides while preserving the natural ratio of all the compounds from the root.
07
Laboratory testing
Every batch is tested for withanolides, heavy metals, microbiology, pesticides and raw material identity.
08
Filling and packaging
The finished extract is filled into plant-based HPMC capsules and packed into the final packaging.
Why KSM-66®?

The most researched Ashwagandha extract in the world

For MAWELLA® we chose KSM-66® Ashwagandha because it is among the most respected and most researched extracts in the world. It is made exclusively from the Ashwagandha root using gentle water extraction, and every batch undergoes strict quality control. The result is a product that combines traditional Ayurveda with modern standards of purity and efficacy.

Traditional Himalayan processing
Traditional Shilajit

Production process of
traditionally purified Shilajit

Mineral Pitch · The Himalayas · Traditional water purification · Ayurvedic method

01
Harvesting in the Himalayas
Shilajit is collected in the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, where it forms naturally over centuries.
02
Hand sorting
The collected material is sorted by hand and larger impurities are removed — pebbles, sand and other visible admixtures.
03
Dissolving in water
Raw Shilajit is dissolved in pure water or a herbal infusion. Insoluble impurities settle to the bottom.
04
Repeated filtration
Settling and removing impurities is repeated several times — preserving the natural complexity of the substances.
05
Fine filtration
The solution passes through fine filters or textile sieves that catch the remaining solid particles.
06
Evaporation
The filtered solution is slowly evaporated at a controlled temperature until a thick resin with the full range of bioactive substances is formed.
07
Laboratory testing
Every batch is tested for fulvic and humic acid content, heavy metals, microbiology and raw material identity.
08
Filling and packaging
The finished resin is filled into glass jars and carefully packed so that it keeps its purity and natural properties.
Why the traditional method?

Preserving the natural character of the Himalayan resin

When choosing our Shilajit, we opted for a traditional purification method based on long-standing Ayurvedic practices. We believe gentle water purification preserves the natural character of Shilajit and its complex spectrum of substances naturally present in it — fulvic acids, humic acids and trace minerals. Our goal was not to create a laboratory-modified product with the highest possible standardisation of a single compound, but to preserve as much of the natural essence of this precious Himalayan resin as possible.

Laboratory quality control
Ashwagandha testing
Withanolide profile — min. 5 % withanolide content
Heavy metals — lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As)
Microbiology — bacteria, yeasts, moulds, pathogens
Pesticides — control of pesticide residues
Raw material identity — botanical verification
Shilajit testing
Fulvic acids — content and profile
Humic acids — content and profile
Heavy metals — lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As)
Microbiology — bacteria, yeasts, moulds, pathogens
Raw material identity — mineralogical verification
Independent verification

Eurofins laboratory

Laboratory testing of every batch is performed by the independent laboratory Eurofins. Documentation and test results are available on request — transparency is one of the core values of the MAWELLA® brand.
